What should you add to your wardrobe mix for this spring-summer? We got the hot list from the experts at Spree…
Think ‘The Summer of Love’ this season, with a big flashback to the Seventies! “Statement stripes, fresh denim and all-white attire will take centre stage,” says Spree.co.za Fashion Director, Chris Viljoen. “Expect to see everything from oversized sunnies to multi-tiered bohemian dresses.”
1. Retro Boho
The retro bohemian trend is taking up the fashion scene in a big way this season. “Trousers kicking out from the thigh into a generous flare, tassel tops, crochet knit kimonos and billowing bell sleeve dresses will embody street style this summer,” says Spree’s Womenswear Category Manager, Lezell Peter.
2. Statement Stripes
The stripe has pushed forward this summer in an array of forms. From horizontal pinstripes to thicker block-coloured stripes – big, bold, fun and sometimes serious, the stripe is back with a bang! “The great thing about stripes is that they are easy to pair with other prints and bold colours,” says Peter.
3. Anything-Goes Denim
“Denim has been the trend for Autumn/Winter 2015, and for Spring/Summer – anything denim goes! From high-rise flare-leg to A-line button through skirts, culottes and pinafores – the Seventies influence is the biggest trend in denim. Distressed boyfriend jeans with a relaxed fit are also on top of the denim trend list, as is white denim,” says Peter.
Clean and simple – white is an ageless shade, fresh and in style this season. An all-white palette featuring lace, cut-outs, pleats and other feminine details will be radiating white heat this summer.
