You’re Really Going To Love H&M’s First African Collab

Swedish fashion giant H&M recently announced their first collaboration with a South African designer, Palesa Mokubung, which hits stores on the 15th of August. Joining the ranks of Karl Lagerfeld, and Alexander Wang (to name a few) who have collaborated with the retailer, Palesa is the first African designer to have her clothing grace H&M racks.

We’re officially obsessed with the Mantsho label

Palesa started her label, Mantsho – meaning “black is beautiful” in her native Sesotho language – back in 2004, and has since graced numerous runways, including Greece, India, USA, Jamaica, Nigeria, Botswana and Senegal.

Mantsho x H&M is an exciting collection celebrating the elegance and vibrancy of Africa with modern edgy designs created for the stylish carefree woman. The range features flowy, easy fitting cuts, frills and gathers in a range of colour palettes from blues, browns to blacks, hues of pink and amber reds.

Afrocentric fashionable accessories, including shoes, earrings and a clutch bag, complete the versatile collection. “This is my love letter to the world from Africa,” says Palesa. “I hope customers around the world will enjoy this ensemble of my standout pieces from my last three collections.”
