Ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, apparel partner Le Coq Sportif has launched a range of Banyana Bafana fan gear – and it’s nostalgia, ultra.
The kit, reminiscent of the 90’s gear, is inspired by the traditional colours of South African soccer. The colours are said to be a testament to the teams’ strength and resilience.
The inspiration behind the Banyana Bafana fan gear
In a tweet, SAFA called the Away jersey “A statement piece for a statement team who continue to forge the path for generations to come.” In a statement on the Le Coq Sportif website, the brand describes the pieces as made for the fans. To be worn on Casual Fridays, on Game Days, and anytime we’re proud to back the team.
“The New Bafana Banyana Jersey is not just a piece of clothing, it’s a statement piece for a statement team. A team that continues to forge the path for generations to come. This masterpiece was designed by none other than YOU!” the statement by Le Coq Sportif reads.
Where can I buy it?
The gear is available for pre-order now and first deliveries are expected in early June, from the Le Coq Sportif website. Sizes range from kids to adults. Pre-order yours now, from R999.

Show your support
The kit reveal comes after sponsor Sasol rallied support from South Africans through their campaign, with the slogan, “South Africa, your support is our energy”.
The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be held in Australia and New Zealand from 20 July – 20 August 2023. Per the SAFA website, “Fans can send their messages of support on the Sasol and the Banyana Bayana social media pages. Sasol will collate all the messages received and ensure they are shared with the entire team while they are in camp preparing for the World Cup, and when they are in Australia and New Zealand participating in the global tournament.”
There truly is no time like the present to back our team and support them during this tournament.
