Three new Bioceramic MoonSwatch watches have just landed, offering a fresh perspective on the splendour of Earth from space. Throughout history, humans have marvelled at our planet’s appearance from above. Every astronaut who’s ventured into space has described the Blue Planet as the most breathtaking sight. “When I first looked back at the Earth, standing on the moon, I cried,” said astronaut Alan Shepard, the first American in space and the fifth man on the moon.
These non-limited Bioceramic MoonSwatch models — MISSION ON EARTH – LAVA, POLAR LIGHTS and DESERT — celebrate Earth’s beauty, inspired by volcanic lava, the Aurora Borealis and vast deserts. Swatch has introduced three brand-new colours in Bioceramic for these watches.
Mission On Earth – Lava

The Bioceramic MoonSwatch MISSION ON EARTH – LAVA is a tribute to volcanoes, those powerful openings in Earth’s crust that release lava, ash and gas. Lava’s intense red and orange hues are both dangerous and captivating. Today, around 1,670 active volcanoes are identified worldwide, with roughly sixty erupting each year, excluding many underwater ones. This model also nods to OMEGA’s 1968 Speedmaster Moonwatch “Ultraman” with its iconic orange chronograph hand.

Mission On Earth – Polar Lights

Inspired by the dazzling Aurora Borealis, the Bioceramic MoonSwatch MISSION ON EARTH – POLAR LIGHTS captures the magic of these atmospheric wonders visible from space. The brilliant green and blue “curtains” in the night sky influence the watch’s dominant turquoise colour. The blue dial is studded with tiny silver-coloured flakes, inspired by aventurine glass, making each watch unique. The subdial numerals and indexes follow the radial format seen in OMEGA’s Alaska II and III projects.
Mission On Earth – Desert

Embodying the vast sandy expanses covering a fifth of Earth’s landmass, the Bioceramic MoonSwatch MISSION ON EARTH – DESERT features a sand-coloured case and hands, with a greige dial and strap. It evokes the largest desert, the Sahara, spanning over 9 million km². Its climate can swing from scorching daytime temperatures to freezing nights.

The Mission
Each MISSION ON EARTH watch features a mission statement on the case back and the OMEGA X SWATCH logos on the dial and crown. The battery cover displays Earth and an adjustable VELCRO® strap adds astronaut chic with contrasting topstitching. The hands and indexes, coated with Grade A Super-LumiNova®, ensure a perfect glow-in-the-dark effect. These watches retain all the iconic features of the original OMEGA Speedmaster Moonwatch, including the asymmetrical case, the renowned tachymeter scale with the dot over 90 and the signature Speedmaster subdials.
Swatch crafts the new releases, like all Bioceramic MoonSwatch models, from their patented Bioceramic. It’s a mix of two-thirds ceramic and one-third bio-sourced materials from castor oil.
The new Bioceramic MoonSwatch MISSION ON EARTH models will be available exclusively in selected Swatch stores.
