“Holla Trails is a good place to start. There are loads of marked routes with different colours according to length and difficulty.”

She’s about the van life. “Last year, I gave up my teaching job, bought a van and travelled Europe following the Golden Trail Series. I raced five races in the Alps and Scotland and managed to rank in the top 10 overall, which meant qualification to compete in the final which was on home soil – the Otter African Trail Run last October. I won Otter the year before, so going back as defending champ and lining up with nine of the best athletes in the world was really exciting!” says Meg. She finished eighth overall for the Series last year, and placed sixth at the Otter Trail – an incredible achievement.
