Ever heard of Golden Milk? Well, first off, it’s not dairy. It’s a cool little mixture of stuff you have in your kitchen cupboard that has the power to clear up your winter skin (yes!) – plus heal a bunch of common health woes.
We’re looking at you, flu. What you need: turmeric, coconut oil and a sprinkle of black pepper. That’s it!

Why We Love Turmeric…

What’s not to love? In India turmeric is known as the “spice of life” – for good reason. Its benefits pretty much cover your entire body and brain – we’re talking over 150 therapeutic bonuses, including anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial benefits, plus potent anti-cancer properties that have been intensely studied. Specifically, it treats liver disease, skin problems (hooray!), respiratory woes, sprained muscles and joint pains, and speeds up would healing.

Why We Love Coconut Oil…

It’s a serious “super food” – and one of the legitimate few. As the richest source of saturated fats known to man (about 90 percent fatty acids), coconut oil helps with digestion, gut health and will give your skin a major glow. Cheerio tummy troubles! Another major perk: it can increase your good cholesterol.

How To Make Golden Paste And Golden Milk:

Golden Paste:
– 1/2 cup organic turmeric powder
– 1 cup water
– 1.5 tsp black pepper (pepper increases the body’s ability to absorb turmeric)
– 5 tbsp virgin coconut oil
In a stainless steel pot, cook the water, turmeric and black pepper until it forms a thick paste, stirring and cooking for about seven to 10 minutes. Remove from heat and add virgin coconut oil, using a whisk to fully mix in the coconut oil. Transfer the Golden Paste into a glass jar with a lid and store in the fridge for up to two weeks. You’ll use this paste to make your Golden Milk below.
Golden Milk:
– 1 tsp Golden Paste
– 2 cups milk ( or a milk alternative)
– 1/8 tsp vanilla (optional)
– Honey to taste (optional)
– Pinch cinnamon (optional)
In a stainless steel pot, gently heat, but don’t boil, 2 cups milk with 1 tsp golden paste. A whisk is helpful to fully mix the paste into the milk. Add optional vanilla, honey and/or cinnamon.

Why stop there?

Golden Paste can also be used in smoothies and curries, to make salad dressings and more. (Your pets will love it too.) As for the liquid form? Take it at night. Why? Because… it’s one of those nighttime drinks that get you to Dreamland faster than you can say, “Golden Milk.” Sold!
