This Anti-Ageing Smoothie Bowl Is Bursting With Antioxidant Power

by | Sep 16, 2025 | Recipes

When summer rolls in, so does the flood of smoothie-bowl inspo on your feed. And while we love them, some of those picture-perfect creations can be seriously time-consuming (and a little pricey) to pull off.

This blackberry-mango smoothie bowl is a simpler way to bring variety to your a.m. menu. You can prep, chop and freeze everything the night before, and the frozen fruit gives it that thick, spoonable texture that makes every bite so satisfying.

Switch up the fruits and toppings whenever you like to keep breakfast feeling fresh. Taken from the How Not to Age cookbook by Dr Michael Greger, it’s designed to keep you full while stacking up a few nutritional wins before the day even starts – and yes, it’s totally Pinterest-worthy.

Why Barberries?

Dr Greger highlights barberries as one of the most antioxidant-rich dried fruits, even ahead of goji berries. Research links them to lower LDL cholesterol by an average of 14 points (mg/dl), and improve acne, artery function, triglycerides, blood sugars and insulin resistance. (They’re not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.)

If barberries aren’t easy to find, swap them for dried cranberries. They’re widely available, naturally tart and packed with polyphenols that support heart health and help reduce inflammation.

  • 1 Blender

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp dried barberries
  • 1 cup frozen chopped mango
  • 1 cup frozen blackberries
  • 2 Tbsp ground chia seeds
  • 2 Tbsp almond butter

    soya milk

  • ½ cup mashed cooked sweet potato
