1. How early should I arrive to my spa appointment?
Always be on time. Aim to arrive 15 minutes early to avoid inconveniencing other clients, who, just like you, are also there for some time out.
2. Can I bring my phone into a spa?
We’re not saying you need to leave your phone at home but you should switch off your phone… or at least consider putting it on silent. Chatting away defeats the very purpose of unwinding and may be destructive to other guests.
3. What should I wear to a spa?

4. Should I shower before my spa appointment?
“Definitely shower,” says Katlego. “Not only will this open up your skin’s pores, therefore making the massage oils and body wraps effective but it’s generally good manners to be considerate of the masseuse and other guests. This way, you get the most out of what you’ve paid for.”
5. Should I shower after my treatment?
The body is at its most relaxed after a massage or any other spa treatment, shares Katlego, adding that a treatment such as a body wrap. “Taking a hot shower or bath straight afterwards could strip off the oils meant to heal the body long after the treatment is done.”
6. Should I always tip?
“Though not compulsory, tipping is a way to appreciate your masseuse’s services. Anything between 10 to 20 percent of the total amount is considered decent,” advises Katlego.
